A leaked document shows Napoli President Andrea Agnelli is ready to sack the club’s sporting director after an alleged cover-up.
The documents show Agnella is looking for an alternative sporting director in the event Van Bastens departure is confirmed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
Agnellis office is understood to be preparing a statement to the FIGC in order to justify her decision.
Napoli have been rocked by the revelations of a cover-ups in the transfer of former manager Francesco Guidolin and a cover up by coach Gianluca Di Marzio.
The two former managers were also investigated by the FIGG for fraud and tax evasion.
Di Marzo was suspended for six months in November for alleged tax evasion and for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy with Guidolin.
Guidoni has been suspended indefinitely pending a criminal investigation by the court of arbitration for sport (CAS).
The FIGC have been asked to decide if they will sack Di Marzos boss, and the report said the board would not be made to act until a fresh investigation had been completed.
A similar report is expected to be presented to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) by the end of this month.
Di Martino and Guidoli were both accused of tax evasion in 2013.
Both were later fined €40 million.
Di marzo, a former Milan coach, has been in charge at Napoleone since 2014.
In 2015, the FIGCs probe found that the club had been “unfairly influenced” by Di Marzan.
The FIGCs said the club was paying Di Marza in order for Di Marzon to continue as coach.
The court of arbitrators ruled in favour of the FIGS and the former coach was allowed to return to his role.
The report said that in a letter to the club, Di Marizano accused the FIGs board of having “unilaterally, unreasonably and unreasonally taken decisions to prevent and stop the truth from coming to light.”
